In the Moment

It is okay to feel overwhelmed right now. Please know that your feelings are valid, and there is no 'right' way to experience a difficult time. Take a slow, gentle breath and focus on finding a small sense of grounding in this space.

  • Gently name 5 things you can see, 4 you can touch, 3 you can hear, 2 you can smell, and 1 you can taste.
  • Hold an ice cube or run cold water over your wrists to gently reset your senses.
  • Listen to music, your favourite "calming" playlist (this is whatever works for you, Metal Punk, Classical, Jazz, Bowie or Stray Kids
  • Find comfort in weighted pressure by using a heavy blanket or pillows against your body.
  • Notice the feeling of your feet firmly on the floor and the earth supporting you from beneath.
  • Lie on the floor, let your body relax into the floor
  • Have a shower
  • Go outside/inside/ walk if you are able/change rooms
Remember, you don't have to carry this alone. Reach out to a trusted person or one of the services listed above when you are ready.
